Protection Engineer – Remote

Experience

  • Competent with protection, automation, and control applications within the power system sector.
  • Competent with IEC 61850 MMS, GOOSE, SV, and PTP applications.
  • Competent in the following skill sets, which are deemed to be high priority competencies:
    • ABB PCM600
    • Doble 6150SV/Protection Suite
    • GE Enerista
    • Omicron CMC/DANEO/Test Universe
    • SEL Architect/QuickSet/Grid Configurator
    • Siemens DIGSI
  • Competent in the following skill sets, which are deemed to be medium priority competencies:
    • Schneider Easergy
    • Hitachi PCM
    • RTDS RSCAD
  • Passionate about digital substations, IEC 61850, and virtualized protection applications.

Responsibilities

  • Configuration, testing and documentation of IEC 61850 University’s Mobile Digital Substation
  • Development and maintenance of various test procedures.
  • Providing on-site/remote IEC 61850 and general technical support for Tesco’s clients, including IEC 61850 University’s mobile digital substation.
  • Testing and troubleshooting with Tesco’s client’s equipment, including IEC 61850 University’s mobile digital substation.
  • Supporting IEC 61850 University training courses in both the theory (slides) and the hands-on (workshop).
  • Support Tesco and IEC 61850 University’s business development activities, such as bid proposals, etc.
  • Transfer customer requirements into technical specifications and support with industry standardization activities.

Working Conditions

  • Candidates are permitted to work 100% from home.
  • Candidates are expected to be capable of working within Canada and the USA.
  • Candidates must qualify for working Visas, which the company will financially support.
  • Candidates must currently reside in either USA or Canada and may be employed by Tesco Canada or Tesco USA.
  • Candidates are expected to travel for training and/or consulting opportunities, which is approximately 20% of the time.

Working Duration

  • There are part-time positions available (fee-for-service) and full-time positions available (salary).
